Ypsilanti, MI, October 9, 2015
The City of Ypsilanti was recognized by Livability as one of the best places to live if you are single. According to the study, those looking to date or just meet new people might have better chances if they live in Ypsilanti.
Livability determined which cities are best for singles by taking a look at Census data, which included the percentage of unmarried people, the percentage of the population in prime marriageable age and places where people are living alone. Also, the ranking was determined by the percentages of people who go to movies, clubs and art galleries.
Ypsilanti ranked sixth for a number of reasons, including how more
young, creative people are choosing to live in Ypsilanti over
surrounding areas and how Depot Town and the downtown area is filled
with a variety of places for singles to mingle, including shops,
restaurants and bars.
“I believe a part of what makes this
community unique is its heritage and diversity, which promotes a
welcoming environment,” said Ypsilanti’s Mayor, Amanda Edmonds.
Ypsilanti is full of unique businesses and cultural attractions that
draw people to live and visit here. “Also, being the home of Eastern
Michigan University adds to the vibrancy of our population and promotes
social interactions in the city.”
