In its 7th year, WonderFool Productions teams up with the Ypsilanti community to host a month of artist and community creative workshops that culminate at ypsiGLOW, a light-filled celebration in Downtown Ypsilanti. WonderFool Productions partners with over 50 local organizations, schools, businesses and local artists to create an event that celebrates Ypsilanti's unique culture, creativity and community. Preceding the event, workshops are held at the Parkridge Community Center at Washtenaw Community College, the Downtown Library, Whittaker Library and uniteSTEM to engage artists and community members of all ages in the art-making of luminaries and wearables that they can then bring and wear to ypsiGLOW. The main event will take place on Washington Street between Michigan and Pearl and include a 20'x60' tent, stage, live musical performances, a DJ, interactive art displays, light-based installations inside the tent as well as surrounding buildings, street performances, artist window displays in partnering downtown businesses and other artistic experiences. New this year, a GLOWcrawl will be added to encourage ypsiGLOWers to visit businesses in the Downtown District. In this crawl, guests will go on a scavenger hunt to obtain puzzle pieces from participating businesses and then have to assemble the puzzle to reveal a secret code which will enter them to win a prize. Luminary processions will also return this year, stepping off from the Downtown Library, arriving on Washington Street to join the illuminous celebration!
