PUBLIC NOTICE: Planning Commission Public Hearing

Public Hearing Notice

City of Ypsilanti Planning Commission

Wednesday, July 21, 2021, 7:00 pm

Virtual Meeting

A public hearing will be held by the Ypsilanti Planning Commission at their regular meeting to consider the following:

Zoning Ordinance Text Amendment:
PMD District Permissible Use Table, Definitions and Regulations for Adult Regulated Uses

The Planning Commission will hear a presentation, hold a public hearing, and make a recommendation to City Council regarding a proposed amendment to the text of the zoning ordinance (Ypsilanti City Code Chapter 122). The proposed amendment would: (1) restate and support the City’s substantial government interest in regulating the location of adult regulated uses to prevent their deleterious secondary effects; (2) allow certain adult regulated uses presenting presumptively-protected First Amendment expression (adult entertainment businesses, cabarets) to be permitted as of right in the PMD district, subject to the buffer regulations in §122-512, (3) keep other adult regulated uses (massage businesses, pawnshops) as special land uses, (4) remove stray notes about adult regulated uses that appear in an unrelated row of the use table in §122-431, and (5) update certain definitions applicable to adult regulated uses in §122-203.
