Peddler / Solicitor Licenses

Applications for a Peddler & Solicitor License may be obtained in person from the Clerk's Office or online.

Peddling

The act of traveling by foot, motor vehicle, or any other type of conveyance while selling or offering for sale goods or services.

Soliciting

The act of traveling by foot, motor vehicle, or any other type of conveyance while seeking to obtain orders for the purchase of goods or services for future delivery or performance or seeking donations of money or goods.

 

ONLINE CITY OF YPSILANTI APPLICATION FOR PEDDLER AND SOLICITORS LICENSE

Applicants will submit the completed application to the Clerk’s Office and must pay a non-refundable $100.00 application fee at this time. Staff will review the application to ensure it is complete before it can be accepted. 

Required documents:

  • The complete peddler and solicitor licenses application
  • An official letter from your employer stating your relationship with the company or organization.
  • Michigan Driver's License or other official photo identification.
  • Proof of valid Health Department permit issued by the Washtenaw County Health Department (Applies to food and drink products).  
  • Car registration and proof of insurance for any vehicle used to conduct business.
  • Proof of Public (Product) Liability Insurance (Your company should have this).
  • Two 2” X 2” Photos showing face and shoulders (Passport type photo), taken within the past sixty (60) days
  • List of names and addresses of each individual to be Soliciting/Peddling
  • A copy of a comprehensive criminal history report for each individual, issued by a police agency within the last 30 days (ICHAT)
  • $100 APPLICATION FEE

 

NON-PROFIT ONLINE CITY OF YPSILANTI APPLICATION FOR PEDDLER AND SOLICITORS LICENSE


*No license fee shall be charged to any person who shows evidence of being a non-profit.

 
Please see permit samples below - all solicitors and peddlers must provide this permit upon request.

Special Event Vendors

In order to sell goods or services during special events, a vendor permit must be obtained by the respective event permit holder. No peddler, solicitor, or transient merchant shall engage in peddling, soliciting, or selling during special events or within a three-block radius without such a permit.
