To provide mandated public services to all City of Ypsilanti residents and property owners.

To deliver professional and courteous public services with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for all City of Ypsilanti residents and property owners.
Responsibilities
The Department of Public Services (DPS) is responsible for the maintenance of all City-owned and operated buildings, facilities, and infrastructure as well as the provision of solid waste services.
Routine responsibilities of this Department include:
- Equipment Maintenance
- Facilities maintenance including capital improvements
- Maintenance of storm water conveyance facilities and structures
- Parking lot maintenance
- Parking meter maintenance
- Parks Maintenance
- Solid Waste Services, Recycling & Composting
- Street Maintenance
- Traffic signal and sign maintenance
- Tree Maintenance

Trash Service
The City of Ypsilanti contracts residential solid waste pickup from Stevens Disposal.

Recycling Program
The City of Ypsilanti offers an aggressive curbside recycling program to help reduce your waste. The program now provides Single Stream Recycling, which means that containers and paper products may be mixed in the same bin.

Yard Waste
Yard waste consists of grass clippings, leaves, garden material, and bundled or contained branches that are two to three inches or smaller in diameter and cut in four-foot lengths or smaller.

Tree Maintenance & Removal
The Department of Public Services is responsible for removing and maintaining trees in public right of ways.

The City's snow removal policy was created to establish an order of priority for removal of snow from public streets and parking lots.

Street Sweeping
Please make note of when crews will be in your area and be sure to keep the street clear of vehicles and clutter. Major streets will be swept first and then local streets. Schedules are subject to change.

On June 16, 2015, the City of Ypsilanti became the 12th certified Bee City USA participant. As a Bee City, Ypsilanti is committed to addressing pollinator issues, providing opportunities for education about the importance of bees, and hosting habitat restoration activities.
